Murders And Matriarchies is a short memoir written by artist Dorothy Iannone and published by Boekie Woekie in 2014. This staple bound artist book recounts the story of a four hour taxi ride, in which the driver tries to sexually assault and perhaps murder Dorothy Iannone. Although the driver may or may not have been aware of his intentions, the palpable anxiety and fear felt and conveyed by Iannone is relatable for those of us who have found ourselves in an uncomfortable situation at the mercy of an unstable man. Murders and Matriarchies is a previously unpublished work from 1972.
Dorothy Iannone is a painter, writer, and singer whose work has been exhibited internationally for over half a century. Originally from the East Coast of the United States, Iannone lives and works in Berlin, Germany.
