Rupprecht Geiger presents a series of texts in German. Printed on thick card stock, each folds out to reveal a screen print by the artist. The prints are simple, usually featuring a square or rectangular block on top of a solid background; and alternate between sharp neon pinks, oranges, and yellows (Geiger’s signature colors) and cooler colors, such as navy blues and purples.
The texts are largely nonsensical. Some list a series of pronouns (“…ich du er sie es wir ihr sie…” / “…I you he they we it her they…”), while others take on more of a poetic approach (“Rückgang des Fortschritts & Fortschritt des Rückgangs” / “Decrease in progress & progress in decline”). Juxtaposed with the color fields, they create an abstract portrait of bold assertions and contrasting colors.
