Well known within social media circles as well as the vibrant Australian art scene Gilligan has already garnered considerable attention for her innovative body of work that exists within, and beyond, the confines of the contemporary art system. At home in both the gallery or the media sphere of Instagram (where she has over 43 thousand followers) Gilligan’s unique combination of appropriated imagery, colorful impastos, and unselfconscious ability have made her one of the most talked about young artists in Australia today.
Although she works within various disciplines—painting, drawing, writing, performing with the band Pamela, or illustrating for Rookie Magazine (where she’s a regular contributor) it’s her collages that have provided the young Australian the most attention.
