This book serves both as an exhibition catalog and the documentation of an installation by Daniel Buren, entitled “Rigidity / Flexibility on the Grid: Situated Works by Daniel Buren,” which was located at the Arts Club of Chicago from November 2 - December 10, 1994. Buren’s work in the installation involved creating a new context for the location’s Mies van der Rohe architectural interior by adorning the physical surfaces with geometrically patterned paper.

The book consists of text written by Kathryn Hixson, several black and white photographs of older work by Buren, and a reproduction of one of his drawings. Bibliographic references are listed in the back. In the center of the book there is a silver page, reflective on both sides, bordered by pages reproducing the (colored) striped paper Buren used in the installation. Bright blue paperback cover.
