An unpublished study of Alberto García-Alix’s early photographs. The first volume includes 2,154 photographs taken between 1975 and 1981. They show the author’s life and environment at a historic moment for Spain, a period of great political, social and cultural upheaval: the Transición.
The first volume of the collection covers a seven-year period (1975-1981) marked by the death of General Franco and the emergence of the “Movida Madrileña”. Alberto García-Alix’s photographs show the first CNT rally after the Civil War, one of Spain’s first demonstrations for gay, lesbian and transgender rights, the birth of youth subcultures and the effervescent cultural activity of Madrid’s flea market, as well as the beginning of the drug scene.
These seven years begin with the photographer’s debut behind the camera and culminate in his first solo exhibition at Madrid’s Buades gallery. The second volume of the Archivo Nómada collection, scheduled for release in 2023, will cover the period from 1982 to 1986. -Publisher
