In Towel Stuff, artist Kelly Breez pairs monochromatic illustrations of human figures wearing towels with images of towel art, a practice she discovered during “an absolute internet k hole.”
Alternating between ink-brush portraits of towel-clad figures taking selfies, bathing, and drying themselves, Breez has placed images of towel art found on the Internet. Breez’s chosen images include a dressed figure reading Cosmopolitan magazine tucked in bed, a pair of sandaled feet emerging from a toilet bowl, and a frog sitting in front of the highest hand in poker—a royal flush. Breez pays homage to these artists in her curation of their work, and her own artistic response to the object of the towel and its wearers.
