Techniques of Invisibility is a collection of interviews compiled by artist Micaela Terk. The interviews are with various scholars, artists, and performers whose work involves the interaction of technology and somatics. Techniques of Invisibility centers around the idea of integrating bodily knowledge into fields of technological research and speculative design. In a world which constantly negates both the body and that which cannot be translated into an image, the invisible located in the body including emotion, vibration, pain, and pleasure, can easily be forgotten. Micaela Terk remains firm in her interrogation of the social, ethical, and cultural conceptions of invisibility. Techniques of Invisibility includes interviews with Doris Uhlich, Boris Kiopeinig, Tamar Flash, Ori Succary, Yaara Neiger, Barbara Droubay, and Robert Steijn. The interviews cover themes of speculative design, performance studies, digital culture, human-computer communication, movement planning and control, somatics, and movement research in addition to their conversation around Terk’s central question on invisibility.
