This photocopied pamphlet serves as a “protest statement” for Tyler, and declares the arrival of the age of the “outlaw press”. The project considers the ‘highly developed mechanization” of printing methods and sees a disruptive power of low-cost printed matter through all facets of material society. The chapbook embodies Tyler’s interest in the “documented life”, featuring repurposed hand-written and typed correspondence with various organizations regarding the dire state of printing and graphic art, his request for federal income tax exemption for Uranian Phalanstery as a 501 © (3), as well as articles and letters heralding successes in the printing world (each stamped with the phrase ‘Supporting Material’). The back page of the booklet features an advertisement for the ‘Liberty Long Cut’ exhibition hosted at the Uranian Phalanstery Gallery, showcasing a range of Tyler’s diverse work including xerox art, occult objets d’art, videotapes and tattoo designs.
