The Zine UnBound: Kults, Werewolves and Sarcastic Hippies is the catalogue from the 2005 exhibition of the same name at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts that looked at independently produced artists’ publications as a model of collaborative activity as well as an alternative exhibition space. K48, based in Brooklyn, New York, Werewolf Express, based in Los Angeles, and Hot & Cold, based in Oakland were the featured collectives.
Packaged in a hand sewn and silk screened folder, “the catalogue” is composed of many discrete parts including a perfect bound book with photographs of the exhibit, the artists and their works and essays by Berin Golonu, A.M. Scott, Trinnie Dalton, Scott Hug and Chris Duncan & Griffin McPartland. In addition to this is a three print “Zine UnBound Print Set”, a CD entitled “Lines by Rimbaud 1874 Interpretation Rebecca Miller 2005”, an announcement card for the show, and a pamphlet stapeled into the cover featuring work from fifteen artists in the exhibition.
