FIELDNOTES is a biannual print journal publishing new writing and artworks with a focus on practices that operate between disciplines and against type. They are seeking non-conforming submissions: ideas in transition, poetry in translation, collaborations and conversations, works between genres, between fiction and theory, between text and image, new poetic modes and things-in-progress.

‘ACE, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Ace pays special attention to those projects questioning the singularity of the art object by using the reproducible capacity of traditional and/or experimental printmaking techniques, photography, new media and/or design, exploring their mutual interference and hybridizations, as well as those proposals that attempt to make interventions in the urban environment.

Artist Immersion Program hosts rigorous art & design intensives around the globe for students, professionals, and those new to the field. This residency in India focuses on textile arts and design, with an additional focus in book arts and book binding. The program utilizes the rich history of textile design and fabrication in Jaipur as inspiration for the courses.

Artist in Residence workspace grant for New York emerging artists
Each year, up to five New York-based emerging artists are offered space, time and support to explore the production and exhibition of artists’ books and related work in year-long residencies. The purpose of this program is to promote experimentation in making book art – thus artists from all disciplinary backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The Center especially encourages applications from artists of culturally diverse backgrounds.

Printmaking AIR
The Artist-in-Residence Program (AIR) at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking takes place in the Helen Frankenthaler Printmaking Cottage. Within this space, artists have the opportunity to produce a body of work in a supportive atmosphere for creative growth and development —using traditional as well as innovative printmaking techniques. The residency offers uninterrupted time and privacy 24/7 in a well-equipped studio with onsite living accommodations.

Cuts and Burns Residency, Ridgewood, NY
Video/New Media Residency
The Residency Program consists of 40 hours of access to our studio with an editor, audio engineer, or programmer. The artist is able to edit, receive color correction, advanced graphics, sound mixes, multichannel editing, and transfers between a variety of video formats. For custom programming, artists are paired with a professional programmer and work from scratch to create customized programming and hardware for their new media project.

Endless Editions, New York, NY
‘Copy Shop Residency’ in risograph
The Copy Shop residency is awarded to artists working in all media, whose work coincides with the Endless Editions vision. Residents will have the opportunity to collaborate with Endless Editions in the production of Riso prints. Unlike traditional residencies, the Copy Shop Residency can be as short as one day and as long as three months, depending on the depth & scope of the proposed project. Each resident’s work will be published by Endless Editions and all work will be split 50/50. We will be offering positions at the Copy Shop Residency year round.

Fogo Island Arts, Fogo Island, Newfoundland
Fogo Island Arts’ international residency program provide opportunities for artists from a wide range of disciplines to live and work on Fogo Island for periods ranging from one to three months. Artists-in-residence are provided with accommodation and studio space, as well as a weekly stipend to offset the costs of materials, shipping, and day-to-day living expenses. Most travel expenses are also covered. Artists-in-residence must give one public presentation, performance, workshop, or lead a similar event during their residency.

AIR Printmaking, photo processes, book arts, digital media
Artists working in various printmaking techniques, photo-processes, book arts and digital media including video production can apply to become an Artist-in-Residence. Residency applications are accepted online three times per year. Artists who apply for a residency should be familiar with at least one of the media offered at Kala. Considerations for acceptance are conceptual creativity and technical knowledge.

Keyholder Residency
The Keyholder Residency Program offers emerging artists free 24-hour access to printmaking facilities to develop new work and foster their artistic careers. Residencies are free and one year long, starting on April 1st and October 1st each year, and they take place in the shared Artists’ Studio, including the solvent/etching area and the darkroom.

Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory & Educational Foundation, Cleveland, OH
Artist in residency, papermaking, book bindery and printmaking
The residency period runs throughout the year and can be scheduled for anywhere between a few weeks to a few months, depending on the project and work being produced. The Morgan provides 24-hour access to its bindery, papermaking and printing studios. In return we ask the artists to contribute to the community by giving an artist talk, demo or open studio. We also request that the artist donates a piece of work created during their time at the Morgan for our archives.

Artist in Residency Program
MCBA’s Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program is designed to support selected artists by providing financial and community resources, space, and access to equipment to assist in the creation and promotion of their work. Residencies may be from two weeks to three months in duration. Participation in the program is based on the artistic merit of proposed projects as well as the degree to which artists further MCBA’s artistic mission: to lead the advancement of the book as an evolving art form. MCBA envisions a world where book art is created, cultivated, celebrated and understood as a vital and lasting expression of culture. While integrating the elements of papermaking, bookbinding, printing, typography and graphic design, MCBA supports the limitless creative evolution of the book format.

At Minnesota Center for Book Arts, the definition of book arts is broad and inclusive. Since 1985 the Jerome Foundation has helped emerging artists push the boundaries of contemporary book arts by supporting the creation of new book works. Under the previous twelve series of fellowships and five series of mentorships, Minnesota artists of diverse disciplines — including printers, papermakers, binders, painters, sculptors, poets, photographers, choreographers, filmmakers, and many others — have created projects ranging from exquisitely crafted fine press volumes to documented performances to one-of-a-kind installations that “break the bindings” and redefine conventional notions of book form and content.

The ‘Keyholder Residency’ is available for artists working in the field of printmaking, papermaking, and book arts. Artists of all career stages are encouraged to apply. One-two artists per quarter are selected by a panel of artists, curators and critics. Resident artists work in a productive community atmosphere alongside other artists, and are expected to be in the studio at least 15-20 hours per week. Technical assistance is available at a reduced rate.

Established in 2009, this biennial award is meant to represent the diversity of book art and encourage discussion rather than limit recognition to any one aspect of this vital field. It is work that engages the viewer and propels the experience forward through narrative, sequencing, spatial elements, visual or verbal language, temporal, mechanical, aural, typographic, symbolic or material means.

This program aims to support Black-owned and minority-owned businesses by providing free SEO evaluations, advice, and planning.
