“When we started working on Lucia’s archive in 2018, on an ongoing if unsystematic basis, trying to navigate our way through the myriad works stored in the space of her home studio, this familiarity with memory naturally turned to her own work, which Lucia began to refer to by arranging it in pages. This is an instinctive way of dealing with one’s own archive, bringing it back into play in a controllable form, where fragments of her works - drawings, films, linoleum, painted surfaces - become the centre of a constellation of images from the various iconographic repertoires she has always drawn on.” Marta Sironi
Lucia Pescador studied at the Brera Academy in Milan (IT) and since 1965 has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in Italy and abroad. She has always preferred the expressive medium of drawing in all its forms and variations. In the 90s she began the collection of images “Inventario del Novecento con la mano sinistra” -even though she is not left-handed- a collection of drawings and objects in constant evolution, which led her to create walls of drawings, photographs and blackboards. More recently, her entire practice has moved towards the surface of pages, which spontaneously gave rise to ALBUM 900 - a collection of images and cut-outs from found photographs and drawings. Lucia Pescador is represented by APALAZZO Gallery. -Publisher
