Double Take is a series of publications with a focus on creative writings and other means of conveying ideas, highlighting particular subjects through various interpretations.
Its first iteration, On Vices, examines humans’ relationship with vices expressed in different mediums and filtered by means of personal experiences. From a deeply personal piece that probes deep into the tendency to compare oneself with others, a socio-cultural observation on drug culture, and the implications of being overly dependent on smartphones to the longing for the lost significant other, and one’s sentimental connection to fast food—there are countless reasons why people indulge in their own vices. Each contributor offers a distinctive lens, allowing readers to explore their own psyche and identify elements of themselves associated with habits and attachment to things they cannot let go of.
Edited by Almer Mikhail, with contributions by Denisa Hawari, Ibrahim Soetomo, Ika Vantiani, Mar Kristoff, Monkey Man, Nirodha Samapatti, Nora Beckman, Sabrina Citra, Tanya Eirena, and Tia Ferhana.
