Max Bodenstedt’s artist book Immer geht die Zeit viel zu schnell vorbei (Time goes by all too fast) presents a photographic long-term observation of his environment consisting of 91 images that the artist compiled between 2019 and 2021.
The book builds on a sequence of flies floating above waste bins and the documentation of the trunk of a plane tree. These are complemented by photographs of plants, insects, pavements and street furniture as well as rain and snowfall.
In a continuous sequence of 91 photographs three years are condensed into one. The images take up basic forms and simple compositions, but again and again they free themselves from comprehensible perspectives and in confronting each other they allow views of unexpected connections. In this game the photographs refer to themselves as a surface for association and reflection and illustrate their offer for perspective.
