Artist Justin Lieberman offers cleverly succinct assessment of the news-dominating 2008 financial crisis using customized office supplies: a squishy stress-relieving earth ball printed with Lieberman’s initials and a paper binding clip hand-painted with a (capitalist) pig, which is clipped to the ball in an endless, merciless squeeze.
Justin Lieberman (b. 1977 in Gainesville, Florida) is a Conceptual artist known for his solo show at Know More Games, titled Thanks for Nothing in 2014 in which he vowed to not show work in New York City for the following decade and applied for asylum in Germany. Lieberman’s dryly sarcastic pointed critiques of American culture and the “art world” infiltrate his sculptures and public statements.
