As the first issue of the UKS Forum of Contemporary Art, this compilation aims to provide a survey of Norwegian sound art. The included booklet describes the editors’ attempts to define sound art, which resulted in visual artists being the most heavily represented demographic on the album. Ultimately the album covers a wide spectrum of Norwegian art music, with “contrasting contributions from the Norwegian black metal scene and techno inspired music of the nineties.”
Included in the CD booklet are the articles “Cut and Paste: Collage and the Art of Sound” by Kevin Concannon, “This is a Journey Into Sound” by David Watson, and “Ambient Sound and Reality as Fantasy” by Ina Bloom.
