This website was launched on November 27, 2013 and relaunched on January 16, 2018. It was designed and developed by Linked by Air.

The website is built in Ruby on Rails and Economy. It integrates with Printed Matter’s “point of sale” system at the store checkout desk and at book fairs, and supports Printed Matter’s system of consignment sales.

Special features of the website include a “universal theory of search” that unifies basic searching, advanced searching, and catalog browsing into a single easy-to-use interface; a streamlined checkout; “tables” that let staff, artists, publishers, and every user curate groups of books and write critical essays about them; critical essays and resources for artists; and a few other easter eggs.
