The Patio, the Small Room, the Long Walk by Justin Hunt Sloane

Launch and Reception
August 23, 2012

The Patio, the Small Room, the Long Walk, by Justin Hunt Sloane, is a non linear narrative based on the translation of a dream written down by the artist immediately after waking. The book is an attempt at understanding the way optical translation distorts and transforms images seen during consciousness and plays them back in response to blind stimulus.

The book is organized into sections that imply a narrative structure without explicitly outlining any beginning or end, drawing from a selection of work primarily composed of charcoal studies and collages that began in 2009 and developed until the present. The work reflects the often overlooked and seemingly meaningless moments catalogued in the subconscious; cartoons, scraps of ads and banal views of the American household.

Join us for a reception Thursday, August 23rd, 6-8PM, with music by Harry Gassel of GRiS.

The book is paperback, 200 pages, measures 4.25 x 6.87 inches, and retails for $30.00. It is available for purchase “here”:catalog/31621.
