CHARLOTTE MOORMAN & FRIENDS

ONE-DAY VINTAGE POSTER SALE WITH DEEP DISCOUNTS!
December 11, 2016
12-6 PM

Printed Matter is extremely pleased to host a one-day sale of rare vintage posters related to the pioneering work of cellist, performance artists, and arts organizer Charlotte Moorman (1933-1991).

These original posters, from the 1960s to 1980s, are about or related to the life and work of Charlotte Moorman. Many of the designs include iconic photographs by Peter Moore, and serve as announcements of key events in the history of video art.

Included in the selection are many of the posters for the Avant Garde Festival of New York, designed by the influential artist/designer Jim McWilliams. The Annual Avant Garde Festival of New York was founded and organized by Charlotte Moorman and ran between 1963 and 1980.

In addition to McWilliams brilliant design, the posters document the participation of key figures in Fluxus and related avant garde communities of the period including John Cage, Allen Ginsberg, the Guerrilla Art Action Group, Dick Higgins, Alison Knowles, John Lennon, George Maciunas, Jackson MacLow, Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik, Carolee Schneeman, and many others.

We will be selling poster tubes for $25 each, and customers are welcome to take as many posters that they can fit into a tube. A once in a lifetime opportunity for some vintage history of New York’s avant garde!

For those not in NY, you may purchase a tube with ten random posters here, while availability lasts.
