TURN OVER A NEW LEAF - Window installation by Sabra Moore

October 31 - November 7, 2016

Comprised of a pieced metal circular band approximately 5-feet in diameter and joined with wire. Each segment contains a stenciled text that reads and circles:

Turn Over/ A New Leaf/ Turn Around/ Turn Up/ Turn Out/ Turn Off/ Turn on/ Turn In/

Approximately 27 leaves in varying shapes are suspended with twisted wires inside the circular bands and made from metal found in New Mexico where Moore lives, such as rusted roof metal, copper, painted olive oil tins and other found tin and metal. Each leaf is partially stenciled with a word, most related to water such as

water/ wash up/ wash out/ water down / wastrel and other words

This installation can be viewed on many levels, as a play on the leaves of books, as cycling and recycling, as a metaphor for our relationship to our planet and the use of its resources, especially the primacy of water and its role in every aspect of our lives, including the lives of leaves, as a commentary on our election cycle and its perils, or simply as enjoyment of form.
