Teleplay, Part 1 by Catharine Maloney - Launch with performance by Teen Men

6:00-8:00 PM

For the past five years Catharine Maloney has combined and recorded her interest in men, outer space, and play in her photographic series Teleplay, Part I.  The result is a spiral bound 62 page book from Skinnerboox Books (Italy).  The book is filled with playful men,  bright-makeshift costumes, and backdrops.  Her photographs are helter-skelter constructions, manipulated by hand or crudely on the computer, in order to create a strange place.

Please come help her celebrate the book with a party and special audio/video performance by Teen Men.

For every copy of the book sold, Catharine will take a Polaroid of the purchaser in a turtle neck from her collection – Like her book, the evening will be filled with off the cuff entertainment and fun.

Catharine Maloney (b. 1982, Austin, Texas) is a photographer, art teacher, and band member of Teen Men. She has an MFA from Yale School of Art and has exhibited within the USA and Europe. In 2014, she was chosen for Foam Magazine’s Talent Issue. Her lesson on creating chaos in the photographic printing processes appears in The Photographers Playbook (Aperture, 2014). A book of her photographs entitled Teleplay, Part 1 came out on Skinnerboox Press in Spring 2015. Catharine is based on the east coast and sometimes does commercial work photographing bands.

Teen Men is a Delaware based audio and video collaboration between Nick Krill, Joe Hobson, (Mems. of The Spinto Band), Albert Birney (Simply Sylvio Vine series) and Catharine Maloney. Their first album came out on Bar/None Records this summer and they toured the U.S. with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.
