Join us at Printed Matter / St Marks for a launch of Carnival Machine, Adam Green’s latest book published by Calipso Press. We’ll meet on the roof of 38 St Marks Pl for a poetry reading, Q&A, and short acoustic set by Green.

Carnival Machine is a book of poetry and illustration set in a world of adventures that will leave you spellbound, taking place in an anthropomorphic storefront, the labyrinthine bureaucracy of a vending machine’s nightmare, and beyond.

Adam Green is an artistic polymath – a songwriter, filmmaker, visual artist, and poet. A co-founder of The Moldy Peaches and author of eleven solo-albums, his songs have been performed by artists as diverse as The Libertines, Carla Bruni, Kelly Willis, Dean & Britta, and Will Oldham. Green’s paintings and sculptures have been the subject of exhibitions in America, Asia and Europe, including a 2016 show at the Fondation Beyeler Museum in Basel, Switzerland. He wrote and directed the feature film The Wrong Ferarri (2010), the first feature film shot entirely on an iPhone, and Adam Green’s Aladdin (2016) which Buzzfeed.com described as “the trippiest movie ever made.“ Most recently, Green has authored a series of graphic novels and poetry books. He is currently writing the screenplay to The Wrong Ferarri 2.

Calipso Press is a risograph studio, publishing label, and artistic collective founded by Eva Parra and Camilo Otero. They understand books as an excuse to work with others. They host an expanded publishing and printing experimentation residency program. Established in 2015 in Cali, Colombia, they relocated to New York in 2022.
