Border Action No. 1: Basin Plans / Global News as Seen from the Vantage Point of Ocean Basins
This imitative global events newspaper, printed in both English and Japanese, is arranged into sections based on the proximity to bodies of water. Blurbs culled from prominent newspapers across the world provide information, and all events, from the vote for Ukrainian independence to “Italy copes with summer slime,” are treated with the same impartial and matter-of-fact viewpoint. Rather than focusing on political events, however, the overall perspective of the bulletin is primarily ecological, considering political events mostly in terms of their effect on the physical earth.
Political and geographical maps of the world drawn-over with Fend’s renderings of rivers, currents, and imaginary borders illustrate the text, which is printed in English and Japanese.
