As with the 2008 version of A Wikipedia Reader, editor/artist David Horvitz asked a diverse group of artists to conduct a Wikipedia search and then to continue onto other articles through linked words, creating a string of ideas that could be printed and presented as a series of articles in a newspaper-like format. The resulting collection represents 23 of these mental maps, which chart the artists’ short journeys through the wilds of the collectively-edited online encyclopedia. Contributors include Paul Branca, Dexter Sinister, Barbara Ess, Fillip, Rob Giampietro, Marc Handelman, Zach Houston, Adam Katz and Julia Sherman, Brian Kennon/ 2nd Cannons Publications, Chosil Kil, Alex Klein, Marisa Olson, Paul Pieroni, Laurel Ptak, Eileen Quinlan, Michael Smoler, Jamie Stewart, Oraib Toukan, Lia Trinka-Browner, Jen Delos Reyes, Rafael Rozendaal, Ryan Waller, and Amy Yao. A Wikipedia Reader was commissioned by the Art Libraries Society of New York for the Contemporary Artists Books Conference at Printed Matter’s 2009 NY Art Book Fair.
